Odds cross-checked against TCGplayer’s 8,500+ pack Chaos Rising dataset and independent community counts (Jul 2026). The darker bar is the low end of the range and the lighter bar runs to the high end. Odds for a single card assume every card of its rarity is equally likely.

Reading the Chaos Rising pull rates

Only six Special Illustration Rares share their odds, so each specific one is easier to pull than in a bigger set, and the opening data since its 22 May 2026 release bears that out. A standard Chaos Rising booster pack has 10 cards: Double Rares and Ultra Rares turn up in its rare slot, Illustration Rares and Special Illustration Rares in its second reverse holo slot, and the pull-rate table gives the odds of each per pack and the chance of at least one in whichever product you pick.

Switch the table to Box before buying one. Double Rares turn up in most short rips, but fewer than half of Booster Boxes contain a Special Illustration Rare, and the gold Mega Greninja ex, the only Mega Hyper Rare in the set, is roughly twice as hard to pull as its Special Illustration Rare.

Mega Greninja carries Chaos Rising

Mega Greninja ex carries this set. Greninja is one of the most collected Pokémon in the franchise, and its gold Mega Hyper Rare and its Special Illustration Rare lead the ranking above. The two now trade close to each other, even though the gold card is the far harder pull.

The drop after the two Greninjas is steep. The rest of the SIRs are mostly cost-recovery hits rather than serious singles, so a box opened for value lives or dies on Greninja. Every version of the card, with its odds and value, is in our Mega Greninja ex guide.

The six Special Illustration Rares

Chaos Rising ships with six SIRs, matching Perfect Order and far fewer than Ascended Heroes, which has 22. Fewer SIRs means each one individually pulls more often, but it also concentrates value into a smaller pool.

  • Mega Greninja ex #116: rain-soaked Lumiose City artwork, the set's top chase
  • Mega Floette ex #117: Eternal Flower variant from the Legends: Z-A storyline
  • Mega Dragalge ex #118: kelp-forest illustration
  • Cinccino ex #119: non-Mega evolution SIR, performance-art composition
  • AZ's Tranquility #120: Supporter SIR, AZ reunited with his Floette
  • Roxie's Performance #121: Supporter SIR with stage-flair artwork

Plus the Mega Greninja ex Mega Hyper Rare #122 at the top of the ladder, with the gold treatment and the lowest pull rate in the set.

Booster Box or Pokémon Center ETB?

This is where the buying decision actually lives. The Chaos Rising range breaks down into two main sealed formats, each with a different pack count and a different job.

The Chaos Rising Booster Box (36 packs) is the format for anyone hunting the chase cards directly: the most packs, and so the most chances at a Special Illustration Rare or the gold Greninja.

The Chaos Rising Pokémon Center Elite Trainer Box holds 11 packs (the standard retail ETB has 9), two full-art Fennekin promos, one of them carrying the Pokémon Center stamp that is only found in this box, 65 sleeves, dice and the Pokémon Center exclusive box artwork. It trades pack count for the exclusive promo and the display piece, so it is a worse route for chasing hits and the better one to keep sealed. Sealed Pokémon Center exclusives have held up best in the Mega Evolution era; the case for sealed appreciation walks through why.

For pure hit-hunting, the Booster Box wins. For collectors who open some and keep something sealed, the Pokémon Center ETB is the one to hold.

How Chaos Rising compares to Perfect Order and Ascended Heroes

Pull rates do not exist in isolation. Collectors comparing Chaos Rising with the two sets before it want to know which produces the best hits.

  • Ascended Heroes (January 2026): 22 SIRs, SIR odds around 1 in 67 to 110 depending on tracker, and a deeper bench of valuable secondaries. The Ascended Heroes pull rate guide has the per-card breakdown.
  • Perfect Order (March 2026): 6 SIRs, a similar SIR rate (about 1 in 70 to 90) and a softer top-chase ceiling. The Perfect Order pull rates and chase cards page covers that data.
  • Chaos Rising (May 2026): 6 SIRs, SIR odds around 1 in 80 to 85, and one dominant chase carrying most of the set's value.

The small-set structure makes Chaos Rising the easiest of the three for hit-hunting, but the value is top-heavy. Anyone treating Mega Evolution as a multi-set hold rather than a single-set opening run should compare across the whole Mega Evolution range before committing to a single product. Pulling anything other than the two Greninjas is mostly trade or sell-for-cost territory. That trade-off is real and worth being honest about before opening boxes.

Are Chaos Rising packs worth opening?

If you are chasing Mega Greninja specifically, a Booster Box is the most efficient route, but go in knowing that most boxes will not contain the gold card. For the average opener, the cards in a box are worth less than the box itself. That is normal for sealed product: you open for the chase, not for profit.

If you collect master sets or want the Pokémon Center artwork, the Pokémon Center ETB is the sensible single product to grab and keep sealed. For anyone weighing the wider question of whether to open or hold sealed product right now, the sealed Pokémon investment guide for 2026 covers the broader market context.

The next Mega Evolution set, Delta Reign, lands on 6 November with Mega Rayquaza ex as its chase; the Delta Reign card list ranks its chase cards with the odds of pulling each one. For drop alerts on Pokémon Center exclusives, join the notify list.
