Mega Greninja ex: Pull Rates, Value and Every Version

Mega Greninja ex is printed four times in Chaos Rising, the Mega Evolution set released in English on 22 May 2026, and two of those four are the most valuable cards in the set by a wide margin. Every version is below with its current value and the odds of pulling it from a pack, a Pokemon Center Elite Trainer Box and a booster box, refreshed daily from the same data as our pull rate calculator. If you want the odds for the whole set rather than one card, the Chaos Rising pull rates guide covers every rarity tier.

Every Mega Greninja ex Version

Chaos Rising has 86 cards in its main set and 36 secret rares, 122 in total, and Mega Greninja ex takes four of those slots. The card is a Stage 2 that evolves from Frogadier, with 350 HP, the Mortal Shuriken Ability and the Ninja Spinner attack, and all four printings share that same game text. Only the artwork, the rarity and the number change.

The Double Rare, 022/086, is the standard version, illustrated by takuyoa. It sits inside the main set alongside the other nine Double Rares, and it is the copy most players will own. Next comes the Ultra Rare, 100/086, takuyoa's full art and the first of the four to carry a secret number above the printed set size. Susumu Maeya's Special Illustration Rare, 116/086, is the card most people mean when they talk about the Greninja, one of six SIRs in the set. Last comes the Mega Hyper Rare, 122/086, takuyoa's artwork etched in gold, the final card in the set and the only Mega Hyper Rare Chaos Rising prints.

There is a fifth printing outside the packs. The Mega Greninja ex Premium Collection, released on 3 July 2026, includes a foil promo version numbered 081 in the Mega Evolution promo series, along with an oversize lenticular copy, a tech sticker and eight booster packs. In Japan, the set released as Ninja Spinner, where the Special Illustration Rare is 114/083 and the gold card is 120/083.

Mega Greninja ex Pull Rates

The four Chaos Rising versions sit in four different rarity tiers, Double Rare, Ultra Rare, Special Illustration Rare and Mega Hyper Rare, so they come at very different odds. The Double Rare is the easiest of the four to pull, while the Ultra Rare takes several boxes' worth of packs on average. Its Special Illustration Rare shares its tier with five other SIRs, and the gold card has a tier to itself, which makes it roughly twice as hard to pull as the SIR and the hardest card in the set. Most booster boxes contain neither Greninja chase.

The per-version odds above come from the same dataset as the rest of the site, cross-checked against TCGplayer's opening data of more than 8,500 Chaos Rising packs and independent community counts, and they update as that data grows. A smaller early sample shows how streaky the top end is: TCGtalk's 268-pack tally, reported in May 2026, found only two Special Illustration Rares, neither recorded as the Greninja, and no Mega Hyper Rare at all.

If you want to feel what those odds mean before you buy a box, the pack opening simulator opens Chaos Rising packs at the same rates. For a comparison with another headline card, our Mega Rayquaza ex page runs the same breakdown for Delta Reign, the November set.

What Each Version Is Worth

The Special Illustration Rare and the Mega Hyper Rare are the two most valuable cards in Chaos Rising, and nothing else in the set comes close: the next SIR down trades for a fraction of either. The full art Ultra Rare is worth a small fraction of the two chases, and the Double Rare is a bulk-priced card.

Which of the two chases is worth more depends on which market you look at. Japanese pricing for Ninja Spinner put the gold card ahead, and English buyers have repeatedly paid more for Maeya's illustration than for the gold, so the two have spent most of the summer close together. Both are also a long way below where they opened in May. That is the normal shape of a new release: prices fall fastest in the first few months, then settle, so check the values above rather than a screenshot from launch week.

A clean pull from a sealed pack is the best route to a high grade, and our UK grading guide compares the services for sending one off. Our rarity guide explains what separates an SIR from a Mega Hyper Rare if the tiers are new to you.

Where to Find Mega Greninja ex

The four Chaos Rising versions come from booster packs only. No Chaos Rising product includes one as a guaranteed card: the Elite Trainer Box promo is Fennekin, and the Pokemon Center version adds a second Fennekin with the Pokemon Center stamp. Your choice is which product gives you the most packs for the pull, and the odds under each version above show the answer for the two that matter most.

The Chaos Rising Pokemon Center Elite Trainer Box holds 11 packs, two more than the 9-pack version sold at other retailers, plus the stamped Fennekin. A Chaos Rising booster box holds 36 packs and is the product to open if the SIR or the gold is the target, and the 6-pack booster bundle is the smallest way in and gives you the fewest chances. If you are deciding where to spend, the Mega Evolution sets ranked guide compares Chaos Rising with the other sets in the era.

We secure Pokemon Center exclusives direct from Pokemon Center UK, and Chaos Rising lists in the Chaos Rising collection whenever we hold allocation. Pokemon Center exclusives are a single allocation: once it closes they rarely come back, so join the drop alerts to hear about the next Mega Evolution drop first. The rest of the era lives in the Mega Evolution collection, with every set's boxes in Elite Trainer Boxes and Booster Boxes. Singles of the SIR and the gold trade on TCGplayer and eBay; buy from a seller with a returns policy and compare the listing against the scans above, because a card at this price attracts fakes.

Questions People Ask

How much is Mega Greninja ex worth?

It depends on the version. The Special Illustration Rare and the gold Mega Hyper Rare are the two most valuable cards in Chaos Rising and trade close to each other; the Ultra Rare is worth a small fraction of either, and the Double Rare is a bulk card. Today's values for all four are in the version cards above.

Is Mega Greninja ex hard to pull?

Not the Double Rare. The Special Illustration Rare and the gold card are the two hardest pulls in the set, and the gold is roughly twice as rare as the SIR. Most booster boxes contain neither, which is why both hold their value.

Is Mega Greninja ex a real card?

Yes. It is a Chaos Rising card printed four times, plus a promo in the Premium Collection. Do not confuse it with Greninja ex 214/167, the 2024 Special Illustration Rare from Twilight Masquerade, which is often what an older listing means by "the Greninja SIR". Mega Greninja ex is a Mega Evolution ex, so it gives up three Prize cards when it is Knocked Out.

What packs are in the Mega Greninja ex Premium Collection?

Eight booster packs, a foil Mega Greninja ex promo, an oversize lenticular version of the same card and a tech sticker. It released on 3 July 2026. The promo is its own printing, so it does not replace any of the four pack versions in a master set.

What is the hardest card to pull in Chaos Rising?

The gold Mega Greninja ex, 122/086. It is the only Mega Hyper Rare in the set, so its tier odds and its card odds are the same, and they sit well beyond any of the six SIRs. The Chaos Rising pull rates guide ranks every chase in the set.
