What makes Paradox Rift different
Paradox Rift is the fourth main expansion of the Scarlet & Violet era, built mainly from two Japanese sets, Ancient Roar and Future Flash, which came out in Japan on 27 October 2023, with further cards drawn from the Raging Surf subset. Its list runs to 266 cards: 182 numbered in the main set and 84 secret rares from #183 to #266.
The set brought in Ancient and Future Pokémon, the Paradox forms from Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet, with Roaring Moon ex leading the Ancient side and Iron Valiant ex the Future side. Twenty Pokémon ex appear as Double Rares, Mewtwo ex among them, and Tera Pokémon ex change type with a crystalline look, including a Water-type Garchomp ex.
The secret rares break down as 34 Illustration Rares, 28 Ultra Rares, 15 Special Illustration Rares and 7 gold Hyper Rares. Trainers claim a big share of the top end: Professor Sada's Vitality, Professor Turo's Scenario, Mela, Parasol Lady, Rika and Tulip all reach Special Illustration Rare, and Beach Court, Counter Catcher, Luxurious Cape and Reversal Energy join Garchomp ex, Iron Valiant ex and Roaring Moon ex in gold.
