What makes Surging Sparks different
Surging Sparks is the eighth main expansion of the Scarlet & Violet era, built mainly from two Japanese sets, Super Electric Breaker and Paradise Dragona. It runs to 191 numbered cards plus 61 secret rares.
Stellar Tera Pokémon ex are its signature: nine of the set's 18 Pokémon ex carry the Stellar Tera type, Pikachu ex among them. Dragon types fill much of the rest of the list, with Latias ex, Hydreigon ex and a Stellar Alolan Exeggutor ex all reaching Special Illustration Rare.
It also adds eight ACE SPEC cards to the main list, and spreads its secret rares across 21 Ultra Rares, 23 Illustration Rares, 11 Special Illustration Rares and 6 gold Hyper Rares.
Surging Sparks products and release dates
Surging Sparks reached English shelves on 8 November 2024 as single booster packs, a 6-pack Booster Bundle, a 36-pack Booster Box and two Elite Trainer Boxes, after a Build & Battle Box sold through pre-release events from 26 October.
The retail Elite Trainer Box holds 9 packs and a full-art Magneton promo. The Pokémon Center Elite Trainer Box holds 11 packs and two Magneton promos, one of them stamped with the Pokémon Center logo. The Build & Battle Box pairs 4 packs with a ready-made deck and one of four promos: Gouging Fire, Chien-Pao, Magneton or Indeedee.
Pokémon Center exclusives don't come back once allocation closes: join the drop alerts to hear first when new ones land, or open the pull rate calculator on Surging Sparks to compare the products pack for pack.
Surging Sparks questions
