The Journey Together odds, explained
A Special Illustration Rare lands about once in 86 to 100 packs, and only six cards share that slot, so any one of them, Lillie's Clefairy ex included, works out at roughly 1 in 516 to 600 packs. The figures come from TCGplayer's dataset of more than 8,000 packs, cross-checked against tcgtalk's own 500-pack count.
The gold Hyper Rare slot is rarer as a tier, about one pack in 125 to 137, but with three cards in it each gold card comes around once in 375 to 411 packs. That makes the gold N's Zoroark ex an easier pull than its Special Illustration Rare. The 11 Illustration Rares sit near 1 in 110 to 132 each.
Trainer's Pokémon in Journey Together
The headline mechanic is the return of Trainer's Pokémon, the idea the Gym sets ran as Owner's Pokémon: cards that belong to a named Trainer, here N, Iono, Lillie and Hop. A Trainer's Pokémon only evolves from a Pokémon belonging to the same Trainer, so N's Zorua becomes N's Zoroark ex, while an ordinary Zorua cannot.
The Pokémon Company lists more than 40 Trainer's Pokémon in the set, and four of them carry its ex chase: N's Zoroark ex, Iono's Bellibolt ex, Lillie's Clefairy ex and Hop's Zacian ex.
Ultra Rares and gold cards in Journey Together
All six Special Illustration Rares are Pokémon ex: Volcanion ex (#182), Iono's Bellibolt ex (#183), Lillie's Clefairy ex (#184), N's Zoroark ex (#185), Hop's Zacian ex (#186) and Salamence ex (#187). No Supporter gets a Special Illustration Rare; the three full-art Trainers, Brock's Scouting, Iris's Fighting Spirit and Ruffian, stop at Ultra Rare.
The gold Hyper Rares, numbered 188 to 190, are Iono's Bellibolt ex, N's Zoroark ex and Spiky Energy.
Journey Together products and release dates
Everything launched on 28 March 2025:
- Booster packs, and three-pack blisters with a promo card.
- Booster Bundle: 6 packs.
- Elite Trainer Box: 9 packs, a full-art N's Zorua promo, 65 sleeves and 45 Energy cards.
- Pokémon Center Elite Trainer Box: 11 packs and two N's Zorua promos, one carrying the Pokémon Center logo.
- Enhanced Booster Box: 36 packs plus a stamped N's Reshiram promo.

Where Journey Together comes from
Journey Together is the English version of Japan's Battle Partners, released there on 24 January 2025, with some cards drawn from the Japanese Generations Start Decks. It followed Prismatic Evolutions and came before Destined Rivals, the set that carried Trainer's Pokémon on; the Card Lists hub has every set we cover in full.
